Davines was born as a research and development laboratory in 1983 and follows a formulation philosophy that is inspired by innovation criteria to ensure Davines products are at peak performance and sustainability. They prefer to use ingredients obtained from renewable and eco-sustainable sources, whose origins are traceable, of natural origin, biological or eco-certified, biodegradable, and those that allow Davines to respect and encourage biodiversity.
Davines Scientific Garden: The home of sustainable beauty
The Davines Scientific Garden is an over 9,800-square-foot garden located at the Davines Village in Parma Italy. This garden was cultivated following the principles of organic farming and biodiversity, making this garden not only the emblem of the values of beauty and sustainability that Davines has always advocated, but also a true place of inspiration and study. The plants in this garden have been selected according to the scientific properties useful to the Davines Research and Development laboratory or for the well-being of staff. The garden is both a place of research as well as a natural space to enter and enjoy being surrounded by nature.
The Davines Village is where the offices, training, research and development laboratory, production plant, and warehouse are located. They are devoted to energy sustainability, waste reduction, optimization of natural resources, and savings of non-renewable resources. The needs of the village are met by 100% certified renewable sources, such as photovoltaic panels, a solar thermal system, and a geothermal system.
Divaines partnered with Platic Bank in 2014 to help with the removal of plastics from the coastal areas in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Brazil. They have been a certified B corporation since 2016, and every year they reduce the proportion of their packaging made of fossil-based virgin plastics. In addition to Plastic Bank, Davines has also partnered with 1% for the Planet, so one percent of every purchase on their website is donated to a charity to help better our planet and communities. Davines's goal is to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 at the latest. Thanks to Ethic Trees, Davines offsets 100% of packaging C02, production C02, and the office's C02 emissions. Davines pledges that they will not now or ever test on animals and is working on achieving Leaping Bunny approval. The recycled plastic that they use for their packaging comes mainly from PET plastic bottles.
